TOUR OF DUTY CRUISE – for American Cars – Southland, New Zealand

Where it all began…. 2007, 4 blokes watching the BNT V8’s at Teretonga, Invercargill, having a few beers and discussing the lack of cruises in the winter for the local American Iron…

From this initial discussion it was decided to organise a USA run on the July 7th for cars of American origin.  The cruise would leave Invercargill’s Feldwick gates at 10am Saturday and travel to Te Anau via the Benmore Hotel, with lunch at the Mossburn Hotel and accommodation at the Luxmore Hotel, with drinks and a band later in the day at the ‘Moose Bar’.

Fast forward to July 7th – 53 cars and 180 people turn out for the inaugural ‘Tour of Duty’ cruise and as the say, the rest is history.

The now annual event is held on the first weekend of July to coincide with America’s Independence Day, numbers are limited. This year 2019, the format is as per usual with a relaxed cruise up to Te Anau via some of Southland’s picturesque landscape with a couple of country pubs thrown in. We are still to decide which route to take this year but we will keep you posted. What we can say is the date of 6th July 2019 and the venue for the main Private function this year is over at the Distinction Te Anau on the Lake front. Oh and the Yardmen are playing again.

2019 has rolled around and registrations will be open very soon for this years American Car Cruise.  Get out your costumes and get ready for a great time. Entries are limited to 350 participants due to the private event held at the Distinction Te Anau. Details of the cruise will follow
